Yellow & Blue by the Seaside

We just returned from a visit to my parents in Pawleys Island, where we caught up with my sister and her family, participated in the 4th of July golf-cart parade, built sand forts, rode bikes, visited Brookgreen Gardens and the new Skywheel in Myrtle Beach, frolicked in the pool, and just relaxed. In the midst of all this activity, I managed to set a table with my mother's china.
It is Costa Azzurra by Lynn Chase.
Don't you just love the little dragonflies buzzing about on the back of the china? There is such detail in this pattern.
The coffee cup has a scene of seabirds in the midst of the yellow band.
And look what is waiting for you after your last sip!
Scallop shells adorn the salad plate.
The luncheon plate is graced with a starfish in the midst of other sea life.
Scenes of sea birds alternate with scallop shells and vines on the rim of the dinner plate.
A crab, surrounded by shells, crawls across the bread-and-butter plate.
The stainless flatware is Dickinson by Reed & Barton. The yellow-and-blue placemats and napkins were from Pier One. I'm not sure where Mom got the cute pewter fish napkin rings.
The tumblers are Longchamps by Cristal d'Arques.

This beach scene hangs above my mother's dining table. It was painted by a friend.
If you look closely at the sand pail on the window ledge, you can see my mother's three grandchildren: my two redheads and their older cousin.
All in all, a cheerful summer tablescape by the seashore!

I haven't "seen" you in months! And checked your blog and realized it has been awhile. I always enjoy your tablescapes and this beach scene is no exception. I am partial to blue and yellow anyway, so really enjoyed this. It sounds like you had a wonderful time...I know exactly where you were as we've been there in the past.

I hope this year of homeschooling went well for you.

Great great dishes.. I love the blue and yellow and the sea scenes on them. The table looks fabulous. How precious to have the grands in a painting. That stole my heart. Many blessings, marlis

Oh, those dishes are fabulous! I love all the special touches, like the shell inside the coffee cup. I have those placemats and napkins, but my napkins have sadly faded from so many washings. I wish Pier 1 would stock those again! Yellow and blue are so great together!
